We honestly couldn’t have picked a better place for our wedding than Seven Oaks Recreation in Boone. From the very beginning, Heidi and her team were amazing to work with. They were so accommodating with everything we asked for and truly helped make our wedding day feel special.
One of the things that meant the most to us was hearing so many of our guests talk about how much they loved the venue. Having our wedding and reception all in one place made the entire day easy and enjoyable, and Seven Oaks was such a beautiful setting to celebrate with our family and friends.
Wedding expenses can add up quickly, so we also really appreciated how budget-friendly Seven Oaks was without feeling like we had to sacrifice anything. We got a wonderful venue, great people to work with, and a day that we’ll always remember.
We’re incredibly thankful to Heidi and everyone at Seven Oaks for being part of such an important day in our lives. If you’re looking for a wedding venue in Central Iowa, we would absolutely recommend giving Seven Oaks a look. We’re so glad we chose them!

We had an amazing experience paddling with Seven Oaks this weekend! From start to finish, everything was incredibly well organized and easy, which made for such a fun and relaxing day on the water.
Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, positive, and genuinely seemed happy to be there. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed — from clear instructions to helping with equipment so we didn’t have to carry canoes or kayaks ourselves.
The entire experience felt very smooth and approachable, which I really appreciated as a parent. This is a fantastic option for anyone looking to get out on the water, and I would especially recommend it for families or those newer to paddling.
We had such a great day and will absolutely be back!

I booked a single riders kayak ride, and there are no words to describe how much fun it was! The staff was super nice and experienced in the river rides! It’s so worth the money because you have such a long time to stay on the river and you get to see so much wildlife and the Kate Shelly bridge. I would 100% recommend this place for anyone wanting a relaxing and fun adventure!

I can not say enough good about Heidi, Sara, and the entire event staff!! We had our daughter's wedding there the past weekend and couldn't be happier. From the first meeting last year, to the event, everything was perfect!! If anything went wrong behind the scenes we never knew. Any questions we had, someone was right there. We had such a great experience at Seven Oaks! Our family went snow tubing and had an absolute blast. It was surprisingly affordable for how much fun we had, and the whole atmosphere was upbeat and welcoming.
What stood out the most was the staff — every single person we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and genuinely seemed to enjoy being there. That kind of energy makes such a difference.
We’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend it to other families looking for a fun winter adventure!

Great ski destination in central Iowa!
My kids loved learning to ski here- there’s enough variety and challenge to keep occupied and engaged all day!
The lodge is great for hanging out and warming up. They have outdoor seating with heaters if you want to stay outside.
The free mini lesson they do each 1/2 hour was great to build my kids’ confidence.
The loved practicing turning and stopping on the small tow-rope hill before we rode one of the two lifts up to try out the green difficult hill.
Everyone here is very friendly and helpful
There’s a couple of hills with jumps and obstacles for the advanced winter sports enthusiast. There’s about 7 other runs between the 2 ski lifts to keep you busy for a long time!
They have a few food options in the lodge and sometimes coffee (and mini donuts -yum!) the coffee wasn’t great. But everything else was solid.
I highly recommend and look forward to returning!!

What a fun place to snow tube! We spent an afternoon at Seven Oaks recently and will definitely be back in future winters. The staff were friendly and explained the rules well, there was good signage, and the facilities were well kept. We really loved the food we ate too- popcorn chicken and beef nachos!

I was and am so moved by everyone’s heart to make sure everyone had a great experience on the hill. This was my first time to snowboard… and they made me feel at home and cared for. I signed up for a private lesson to start getting the basics down. Isaiah is an amazing instructor. I could tell he was skilled, experienced, and genuinely cared about my safety and development. I live in Omaha. The language and spirit from the website alone, made me travel two and a half hours for what I knew would be an extremely positive experience. And it was. So much so, I’m heading back this weekend for round two. Thank you all for what you do and how you do it. I’m so grateful!

A friend and I, along with our young girls drove from Des Moines on Friday, January 2 for tubing. When we got to the booth to check in with our online tickets, my friend discovered that the transaction never went through. The guy working the online sales booth was so kind. He spent considerable time trying to find our reservation and eventually had us go check in with the main sales office. The girl working there was also incredibly helpful and our girls were able to tube after all. This was my first time at Seven Oaks and the experience was fantastic. We'll definitely be returning (and triple checking the reservation) in the future.

Great local ski resort! Being from Texas - we appreciate the low crowds for easy learning. The price is right as well for families that only ski once a year at most. Would definitely return and recommend to anyone wanting a great ski experience.

Awesome customer service. My son did the class for a pass and took on a hill a little to big for him last year his first time on his own, fell, and was unable to do anymore snow boarding the rest of the season. Not only did they take care of him and get him looked at right away and were so helpful, they were kind enough to also give him a new pass for this season when they didnt have to. There are not many places that take care of their customers like this anymore so just want to say thank you and that this is an awesome place, classes were great and let kids go at their own speed, rentals are hassle free and easy and everything we've experienced here has been 5 stars for sure! My son loves it so much we just bought him a new board and boots for christmas. Looking forward to returning as often as possible over the years to come!

We happened to be driving through Iowa on our way back to VT and saw Seven Oaks on the map. We had to stop and see what they had to offer! It is an amazing hill/rec center. We skied all afternoon and had a blast. The staff are wonderful and accommodating. And the vibe there was beyond happy. What a fun place to ski and tube in the winter. So happy we got to share in the stoke of Seven Oaks!

This is a great place in Iowa to come spend either a whole day or an afternoon, but there is one thing about this place that I don’t like, and that is how slow the lifts are. Just the fact that it feels like you spend more time on the lift then actually skiing/snowboarding isn’t my favorite, so if there is one thing seven oaks could do to improve my rating it would be making the lifts faster.

I recently had my graduation party at The Lodge, and it was an unforgettable experience! The outdoor landscape was absolutely breathtaking—lush greenery, scenic views, and plenty of space for guests to enjoy the fresh air. The interior of the lodge was just as impressive—beautifully designed, spacious, and incredibly comfortable, creating the perfect setting for a celebration.
What truly made the experience exceptional was the staff. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond to ensure everything looked great!
The Lodge is an ideal place for any special event. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful venue with a warm, professional atmosphere. Thank you for helping make my graduation party so special!

Where do I start? Our family decided to take up snowboarding as a winter activity in January, and since our kids had never been on a snowboard before, we enrolled them in lessons. From day one, John and Ian went above and beyond, not only teaching them how to snowboard but also instilling a deep respect for the slopes.
Thanks to their incredible instruction, patience, and encouragement, our kids have made unbelievable progress in just a few short months. Every lesson builds on the last, and it’s amazing to see how far they’ve come.
John and Ian, you are our kids’ heroes! They are forever grateful for the time and dedication you poured into helping them learn and love this sport. Thank you both for everything!

We drove 3 hours from Kansas City and it was so worth it. Great slope for families and new riders. The instructors were amazing and my kids were flying down the slopes by the end of the afternoon. Thanks John, Sophia, and Amber for your patience and enthusiasm!

Great experience!! This was my first time going snow tubing ever and my boyfriend and I had such an awesome time. I was visiting from Miami Beach, FL and this was definitely a very memorable first time snow tubing!! I highly recommend snow tubing to anyone that’s always wanted to try sledding or something similar. In my opinion, it’s a lot less intimidating, more fun, and more safe. The park also offers snowboarding and skiing and has a huge comfy lodge for bathrooms, resting, and concessions. The check-in process was easy and smooth as well.

What an awesome experience! The kids loved this and the location is perfect. This lodge had it all, food, drinks and plenty of space for everyone. We especially enjoyed the tubing, almost zero effort on our part and very exciting! We plan to come back and try some snow boarding soon. We give this place a 10 out of 10! A must see in central iowa.

Absolutely the place to be. We all had a blast and cannot wait til next time. The kiddos loved the snow tube. The workers were efficient, friendly, and courteous. They treated everyone with respect and made sure rhe line kept moving.
The staff, from front desk, to concession, to patrols were super amazing.
Love this place and cannot wait to bring back the kiddos.
Highly recommending this place.
Fyi: one little hiccup, open trashbins in the redtroom..but still a 5 star location.

Great place for a family, I do skiing, and they help you with everything, and it's convenient. They have rentals and at the top of the hill is a gorgeous view, I really love coming here, it's relaxing. And including that the staff are welcoming, polite, and helpful. (The images are the ones I was talking about on the top of the hill.)

This was our family’s first time skiing and Luke was an amazing instructor. He was very patient and kind. The ski resort was nice and very clean. Most of the staff was friendly although we did overhear the female instructor say she didn’t want to instruct newbies. Still Luke stepped right up, took our group and ensured we had a great first day. The resort wasn’t too crowded and even though it was a warm day the snow was perfect. Equipment was nice and clean as well. We will definitely be back.

For our Customer Service week at Mediacom, the employees out of the Ames and Carroll offices decided to go paintballing. The Seven Oaks people were very accommodating. We ended up having 23 people playing and they had everything ready and waiting when we got there. The guys that did the safety instructions were very thorough and made sure everyone followed the rules. They had plenty of room up by the paintball field that we set up some boards and played bags while waiting to play after getting out. I've had many ask if we could do it again next year. Thank you for the Great Time!

They even offered last minute to assist with finding a new hair and make up artist when my cancelled the day before! My son had a great 10th birthday party at Seven Oaks this past weekend on the paintball course. The outdoor area was great for our group of 8 for their first real paintball experience. The workers were awesome walking the boys through how to use their equipment and getting them taken care of when the CO2 tanks needed to be refilled. Would highly recommend Seven Oaks Recreation for a unique birthday party!

My son and his wife had their wedding reception here. We couldn't have asked for a better venue! The building is beautiful. They even had the patio/fire pit area ready for our guests! The staff was amazing. They made sure everything went smoothly and we didn't have to worry about a thing. Highly recommended.

Fun time! Clean lodge. Good size for kids beginner to intermediate skiers. Food at the lodge was pretty good. We really liked the hot mini donuts! Plenty of space and nice atmosphere.

4 miles West of Boone off US 30. Best place in central Iowa, for snow skiing and tubing. Well groomed and maintained. Equipment rental and lessons available. Food, beverages, and affordable pricing. All things considered, I give this 4 stars for snow skiing in central Iowa. Get out there and have fun!

This place is an upgrade from skiing at Mt Crescent. The lifts run smoothly, lots of runs with different difficulty options. The lodge was very nice with lots of room and food/snack options. I just wish it was easier to access from Omaha and not 3 hours away haha.
ABOUT SEVEN OAKS RECREATION
Seven Oaks Recreation is a family-owned and operated outdoor recreation destination in Boone, Iowa, open all year. We opened for skiing and snowboarding in the winter of 1997-98 and have continued to grow our offerings year-round. Our name comes from the original seven Bryan siblings and the oak trees on the property.
Winter: skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing on 12 runs from beginner to expert, with 2 triple chairlifts, 3 surface lifts, 2 terrain parks, a rail yard, a beginner area and the Super Chutes Tube Park. Our lodge has ample seating with a view of the slopes, plus a coffee shop, a café and Coal Creek Lounge. Group rates, FREE ski and snowboard lessons and several nightly discounts are available. Summer: full-service canoe, kayak and river tube floats on the scenic Des Moines River 7 days a week, plus paintball for birthday parties, church groups, corporate outings and other groups. Every May we host the Gladiator Assault Challenge Mud Run.
